I decided the site needed a refresh after all these years and — after a lot of fuckin’ work — it’s done. Jesus Christ, that took forever. Link-wise, everything is in a different spot, but I made sure to set up redirects so references to pages elsewhere online won’t get lost. However, not everything made the cut. I removed some posts that were just really short and low effort.
What’s Missing
The biggest thing I got rid of was all the “writing about disability” Q&As I’ve done over the years. Frankly, I was tired of being seen as a resource on how to write disabled characters, so I ditched them.
What’s New
The gear page has been completely overhauled. I saw enough people linking to it on Reddit and mentioning how it was out of date that I was shamed into finally updating the products.
There’s now an official contact page with my email and some do’s and don’ts: do be clear, concise and detailed. Don’t be a dickhead.
Why I did it
The old site was a fuckin’ pain in the ass to update. Every post and page you saw on their was hand coded. All the header images were resized and processed using ancient Ruby code I wrote back in 2014. Because of this, I rarely had any desire to post something new because I knew just how much work it was gonna be. With the new design (and platform), I’m hoping to post here more often.
Let Me Know If Something is Busted
The site has hundreds of pages and I’m sure I fucked something up. If something is broken or missing, please let me know.
