I recently came across ads on my Facebook and Instagram feeds for a product called Rollproof. It’s a mat that you roll over the threshold of your driver’s side door to protect it while you load and unload your wheelchair. According to the site, it mounts to your car via:

Magnetic attachment that lets Door stay mounted and fold inside between trips.

Heaven knows I hate it when Door unmounts. This thing is vaporware wrapped in AI slop. Avoid it.

Nearly Every Image on the Site is AI-Generated

The only image I could find that was not AI-generated was one showing the founder of the company. Every other image came back positive on OpenAI’s detection tool. Just look at these:

Before-and-after Rollproof ad captioned “$3,000 problem. $99 solution.” The top panel shows a scratched silver door sill next to an empty manual wheelchair. The bottom panel shows the same scene with a black mat draped over the sill. On the mat, the wheelchair-figure logo sits to the left of the word “ROLLPROOF.” A Rollproof ad captioned “$3,000 problem. $99 protection.” A mat hangs over the sill of a black car next to an empty manual wheelchair, with an inset photo of scratches labeled “Transfer damage.” This time the wheelchair-figure logo replaces the first “O” in “ROLLPROOF.”

The fucking logo moves between shots.

For these two, the arms on the little wheelchair dude are completely broken.

A Rollproof ad captioned “Stop the scratch. Before the repair bill.” An empty manual wheelchair sits against a mat on a dark gray car’s door sill. In the logo above the “O” in “ROLLPROOF,” the wheelchair user’s arms are a mangled, disconnected smear. A Rollproof ad captioned “The car you love. The scratches you hate.” A mat hangs over the sill of a dark purple car next to an empty manual wheelchair, with a “$99 solution” badge. The logo figure’s arms are mangled here too.

Mind you, these are all from the ads run on Facebook and Instagram. It gets even weirder once you look at the images on the site itself.

A Rollproof ad captioned “Load the chair. Protect the car.” A standing man lifts a folded manual wheelchair into the open hatch of a gray BMW SUV, over a mat draped across the rear bumper. The chair’s wheels, frame, and seat are knotted together at impossible angles, and it’s unclear what his hands are gripping.

What in the Eldritch Horror is that wheelchair? What part is that man holding on to, exactly?

And it’s not just the images that are an issue here. The Will it Fit? page has a tool that lets you enter the make, model, and year of your car to see if the mat will fit. Using a script, I ran all 16,000+ combinations and every single one came back as being compatible with the Rollproof.

Hell, I noticed one of my favorite makes and models of transportation wasn’t listed, so I chose the “My car isn’t listed” option and manually entered the details!

Screenshot of Rollproof’s fit checker with “USS Enterprise” entered as the car. It returns “Universal mounting design. A simple mount. An easier routine.” Below that: “Preorder. Charged when placed. Estimated shipping: October 2026,” and an “Add to cart, $99.00” button.

It even fits in space!

The Site Copy Reads Like AI Nonsense

The FAQ page is full of writing only a stochastic parrot could be proud of.

Keep both contact faces clean: remove grit, use suitable cleaners and allow the protector to dry. RollProof Door can be removed for cleaning whenever needed. Follow your vehicle’s surface-care instructions too.

Why are we quoting the Mazda CX-5 Owner’s Manual?

And then there’s the heading:

an honest look at the towel question

As opposed to a dishonest one? I’m surprised it didn’t call the towel “load-bearing”.

From the about page:

Show the work.

Clear materials, thoughtful design and straightforward answers. You deserve to understand what you are buying and how it fits your routine.

Hard to understand what you are buying when all of the product images are fucking fake.

This Product Already Exists

The problem Rollproof is trying to solve is not new and identical products have existed for a while (and for half the fucking price):

The Spynergie one is so identical to Rollproof that I’m tempted to say that that’s where Rollproof’s creator ahem “found” the idea.

I Straight Up Can’t With This Shit

The images are all fake. The text is either AI slop or boilerplate from Shopify. The only call to action is a preorder with a vague October 2026 timeline.

Wheelchair users do not need this kind of shadiness from a company, especially a company claiming to be founded by a wheelchair users.

I can’t say that Rollproof is a straight-up scam, but I can say that nothing about this product—not the images, not the product description, not even the idea itself—gives me confidence that this product will ever ship to customers. At best, people are going to receive a drop-shipped door mat with a couple of fridge magnets taped to the back.

Don’t fucking buy this thing.
