The secret to dealing with difficult terrain is to lift your front wheels off the ground. Your front casters are what make it difficult to get over uneven surfaces. If you practice balancing your chair on the back wheels, it will make it much easier to move through things like snow, branches, or gravel for short distances.

If you need to move over longer distances, I would recommend you pick up a FreeWheel. It’s pricey, but it’ll give you enough mobility to really enjoy outdoor spaces.
