Disabled Existence is a Political Act

We don’t wake up with our fist in the air.
We don’t fight inequality as we clear the sleep from our eyes.
But disabled existence is a political act.
We don’t scream through clenched teeth as we brush them.
We don’t block the bus as we ask to board it.
But disabled existence is a political act.
Accepting who we are.
Even though it’s not who we are supposed to be.
Disabled existence is a political act.
Doing twice as much.
To be considered just enough.
Disabled existence is a political act.
