Can We Please Start Maintaining Automatic Doors Like Regular Doors?

When your automated doors fail to open at the push of a button, can you please start treating this as a genuine hazard and fix it? Yes, the door still opens just like your other doors do, but a lot of disabled people can’t open the door themselves—either because they don’t have the mobility or because automated doors are really fucking heavy.

By ignoring the issue, you’re making our lives harder than they need to be and coming off as a huge dick who doesn’t care about disabled people.

So, next time you notice that your automated doors are no longer working, please prioritize the fix as if it was your only entrance. Because, to your disabled customers, it is.
